Anna University that offers engineering courses in Tamil NaduCHENNAI: Tamil Nadu higher education minister K P Anbalagan on Sunday announced that counselling for lateral entry (direct admission in BE/B Tech courses) and counselling for MBA and MCA courses will be conducted online in view of the Covid-19 crisis.
The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) committee launched its online registration of applications on July 15. So far, 55, 995 students have registered their applications.
The counselling for lateral entry admissions was to be held offline at Algappa Government College of Engineering in Karaikudi.
"Students have to travel to Karaikudi to take part in the admissions. So, we have decided to conduct online counselling this year," the minister said.
The details of notification and websites will be announced later. Students who completed polytechnic colleges used to join second year of BE or B Tech programmes.
The MBA and MCA counselling also will be conducted online this year. "The counselling for MBA and MCA admissions and part -time BE and B Tech admissions used to be held offline. But these admissions also would be held online from this academic year," the minister said.
