The Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai and Bhiwandi civic bodies are likely to take a call on extension of lockdown on Sunday, when the deadline ends.
State chief secretary Sanjay Kumar, who reviewed the situation in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), said, “We have asked the civic chiefs to ensure that there are no violations in the hotspot areas. Elsewhere, lockdown will be relaxed gradually along the Mumbai pattern.”
Traders have been demanding a break from the shutdown which has been in place in these areas since July 1 and had even threatened to defy orders.
