Calcutta High CourtKOLKATA: Calcutta High Court will remain shut for four days next week but a special bench will hear urgent matters at the home of the designated judge.
One such urgent matter is the death of Hemtabad MLA that will be heard over video conference by Justice Shivakant Prasad on Monday. In urgent cases, the counsel for respondents will write to the court's registrar-general. It will be referred to the CJ, who will decide whether the matter needs to be heard by a special bench or not.
In a notification issued on July 18, Calcutta HC CJ announced the judicial and administrative work would remain suspended till Wednesday and also on Friday. The court will function on Thursday. Earlier on July 9, the court had notified suspension of work till July 19 amid rise in Covid cases.
