The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) General Manager - Cricket Operations Saba Karim has been asked to resign from his post.

The former Indian cricketer was appointed by the BCCI back in December 2017.

However, BCCI is yet to issue a formal notice on the matter but, according to reports, they are not satisfied with Karim's planning for domestic cricket.

"Yes, he has been asked to resign. One of the reasons for that is that he was not able to prepare any tangible action plan for domestic cricket (in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic)," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI.

Amid the coronavirus outbreak across the nation, domestic cricket will not return to action till December this year.

Due to the COVID-19 scare, BCCI also decided to postpone the kick-off of the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) until further notice.

The opening match of this year's IPL was supposed to be played between the most successful teams of IPL - defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and CSK - at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.

Santosh Rangnekar, BCCI's Chief Financial Officer, also resigned from his post last year after Sourav Ganguly took over the charge as the BCCI President.
