HYDERABAD: With the US placing restrictions on
H1B visa holders, techies are looking to work in other countries, Japan being one of them. Software professionals are getting offers from
Japanese companies during the pandemic, with many of them willing to even travel to the country once the
Covid-19 situation improves.
Speaking about the demand for high-skilled workers, Naotaka Nishiyama, founder of Tech Japan, an organisation that connects Indian tech workers with Japanese companies, said: “We have around 50 Japanese tech companies as clients. They are keen to hire talent from India, especially into digital transformation companies, which are not affected by Covid-19.”
Nishiyama said thanks to remote style working,
several hirings have already been made. A majority of the offers will entail travel to Japan. “Once we settle down, the hirings will only increase. Our clients will participate in online recruitment from IITs this year,” he said.
Software professionals meanwhile are more than happy to get offers from Japanese firms. “I got an offer to work onshore about a month ago, but I would go to Japan once the pandemic ends,” said Srinivas Reddy of Hyderabad.
A techie, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: “I joined a Japanese firm two weeks ago because I do not see a chance of getting a H1B visa to work in the US anytime soon. In Japan, getting a work visa is relatively easy.”
