Former pilot shoots himself in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: A 75-year-old former commercial pilot allegedly shot himself with his revolver at his house in Sector 51 on Saturday. No suicide note was recovered, police said.
The victim is Shivaji Ahluwalia. He was living with his daughter and grandson.
Police said his servant found him lying in a pool of blood in his room around 5 am and informed his daughter, who called the cops. He was taken to Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police recovered .32 bore licenced revolver. According to the family, he had watched television till 9.30 pm on Friday and then went to sleep.
Police ruled out any foul play. Cops said he was under depression for the past few years. Statements of the victim’s daughter, neighbours and relatives are being recorded. Police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and initiated inquest proceedings in the case.
