Coimbatore: Bharat Sena activist held for desecrating Periyar statue

COIMBATORE: Hours after desecration of Periyar E V Ramasamy’s statue in the city kicked up a statewide furore, Bharat Sena leaders handed over one of their members to police for desecrating the life-size statue of the rationalist leader at Sundarapuram on Friday.
The accused, 21-year-old M Arun Krishnan from Podanur, told police that the act was provoked by a derogatory video on devotional song Kanda Sashti Kavacham on YouTube.
