WESTPORT — A Massachusetts family is hoping to reconnect a family that apparently lost their GoPro camera somewhere in the area of Horse Neck Beach in Westport on the Fourth of July with their camera.

Video from the camera shows kids enjoying boogie boarding with the camera at the beach when a big wave appeared to cause it to disappear.

Kevin Garrigan found the camera floating in the ocean. "Brought it home, cleaned it up, bought a power cable for it so I could charge it," Garrigan said.

Garrigan said he was surprised to see the camera charged up and turned on just fine.

He found what appears to be a family's memories from recent vacations.

Along with the video of the kids boogie boarding adventures, Garrigan said he also found the family enjoying a water park at what appears to be a resort near Loon Mountain in New Hampshire's White Mountains.

"It’s like a modern day message in a bottle, just doesn’t have an address," Garrigan said. "I just want to give it back to these people."

The date and time stamps on the videos say January 2015, but Garrigan believes the videos are likely much more recent than that.

"I didn’t have this kind of technology when I was younger with the kids, I would’ve loved to capture their moments," Garrigan said. "They have it, but they lost it, and I want to give them a chance to reclaim it. I’d love to give it back to them.
