548 active Covid cases in Ludhiana, says deputy commissioner

LUDHIANA: Deputy commissioner Varinder Sharma on Saturday informed that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of Covid -19 patients getting cured in Ludhiana district is increasing with each passing day.
He said 76 new patients have tested positive in the last 24 hours time and there are 548 active patients in the district at present.
The deputy commissioner said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from coronavirus.
"Till date, a total of 49,332 samples have been taken, out of which report of 48,050 samples have been received in which 45,980 samples is negative and report of 1.282 samples is pending," he said, adding, now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 1,770, while 300 patients are from other districts/states.
He said that unfortunately, 43 people from Ludhiana and 33 from other districts have lost their lives.
Sharma informed that till date, 17,666 people have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such people is 2,742. On Saturday, 257 people were sent for home quarantine.
Varinder added that whenever the district administration and health department finds out that about any positive or suspected Covid person, his/her sample is immediately sent for testing.
1,063 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing on Saturday and their results are expected shortly.
Sharma appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab government and if they would stay indoors, they would contribute to keeping everyone around safe.
