Thane: Man gets life for murder of live-in partner in 2015

THANE: The Thane sessions court sentenced a 46-year-old man to life imprisonment for killing his live-in partner in 2015, and fined him Rs 1,000. Nerul resident Vijay Jatopan Munda lived with Savitri Budinikumari (38). Both were Jharkhand natives.
On March 13, 2015, the victim came home at 2am after work. Munda asked her where she had been, the two argued and got into a physical fight. He then hit her with a wooden log, killing her on the spot. The next day, Munda told the police that she had died of natural causes. An autopsy found head injuries as cause of death, after which Munda was arrested for murder.
