The 3TC Solidarity Cup, a unique concept propagated by Cricket South Africa (CSA) saw AB de Villiers' Eagles claim gold. The silver went to Kites while bronze for Kingfishers.

The three teams which played a game of cricket at the same time saw the Eagles led by Aiden Markram and AB de Villiers claim the top spot with a score of 160/4.

The Eagles had scored 66 in their first half of 6 overs and then added 94 second time around. Markram made 70 off 33 balls while ABD made 61 off 24 balls.

Among bowlers, it was Anrich Nortje who was best of the lot with two wickets. Kites came claimed silver with 138/3 while Kingfishers had to settle for bronze with 113/5.

The 36 over game was divided into six segments in which the three teams were sent to bat for 12 overs but in 2 halves of six each.

After six overs of batting from each team, the team with the highest total would bat again for the rest of its six overs. Then the second-highest scorer gets a hit followed by the third team.

Six fielders were allowed for every innings and the entire ground was divided into 6 zones. Each zone could have only one fielder. The maximum a bowler was allowed is three overs each. It took some time for the teams to suss out the format but overall presented a pretty good show.

As for De Villiers, he is retired from international cricket but continues to play in franchise-based T20 tournaments, like the Indian Premier League (IPL) side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) alongside Virat Kohli.
