FDA approves Quest Covid-19 test for 'pooled' sample use, reports AP.
The Food and Drug Administration has given emergency approval to a new approach to coronavirus testing that combines test samples in batches instead of running them one by one, speeding up the process. The FDA said Saturday that it reissued an emergency use authorization to Quest Diagnostics to use its Covid-19 test with pooled samples. It is the first test to be authorized to be used in this way.
Covid-19 cases tick up in northwest China city, reports AP.
Numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases in China's northwestern city of Urumqi continue to rise, with another 17 reported on Monday, bringing the total in China's latest outbreak to at least 47. Another five cases were brought from outside the country, according to the National Health Commission. No new deaths were reported, leaving the total at 4,634 among 83,682 cases, and 249 people remain in treatment.

Topping the list of consumer grievances were issues to do with refunds of paid amounts and delayed or missing deliveries of ordered items during the months of April and June when many e-commerce users remained confined to their homes. Refunds seemed to be especially a problem for air passengers who cancelled their tickets and call drops were the most common gripe of mobile users, according to data compiled by the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).

The PM assured Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal of all support while dealing with the floods, which have claimed 81 lives so far this year. Modi also enquired about the Covid-19 situation and the ongoing efforts to douse the raging blaze at Oil India’s Baghjan gas.

US' Kentucky announces single-day high of new coronavirus cases
A daily record of nearly 1,000 coronavirus cases were reported Sunday in Kentucky, a spike that the governor said should be a “wake-up call” for the state's citizens to abide by mask and social distancing restrictions. Democratic governor Andy Beshear announced in a news release that there were 979 new cases reported Sunday, including 30 involving children 5 years old or younger.
Australia warns coronairus outbreak will take weeks to tame
A surge in Covid-19 cases in Australia's second-biggest city could take weeks to subside despite a lockdown and orders to wear masks, Australia's acting chief medical officer said on Monday as the country braces for a second wave of infection. The respiratory disease caused by the novel coronairus flared up in Victoria state in July, mainly in Melbourne, with a daily record of 438 new cases detected on Friday. Victoria's government has ordered about five million people into a partial lockdown for six weeks and told residents around Melbourne to cover their faces if they have to leave their homes.

Few checks in place, ambulances fleece desperate Covid patients
There have been complaints of ambulances charging Covid patients as much as a flight to Europe to cover distances as small as 10-15 kilometres.
