Coronavirus in Coimbatore: DSP office head constable tests positive for Covid-19

COIMBATORE: A head constable working at the office of the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) at Karumathampatti in Coimbatore district tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. The DSP office has been closed for fumigation.
Police sources said the head constable was staying with his family at the police quarters in Mettupalayam. He developed fever and cough three days ago. DSP Balamurugan asked him to take rest.
The head constable gave his swab sample for Covid-19 test, and the result was declared on Saturday morning. He was admitted to ESI Hospital.
Health department officials will take swab samples from more than 15 police personnel, including DSP Balamurugan. Swab samples will be taken from the family members of the head constable. The police quarters, where he was staying, was disinfected.
