Hyderabad: 7 arrested for selling injections at higher rate

HYDERABAD: Seven members, who were illegally selling anti-viral drugs used for treating Covid-19 patients at an inflated price, were arrested by West Zone Task Force police who seized ten injections from them.
The accused persons were identified as Mohammed Obaid from Asif Nagar, Mohammed Afaq Ali from Hakeempet, Mohammed Majid Ali from Tolichowki, Abdul Aziz from Asif Nagar, B Raju from Langer House, N Sunil from LB Nagar and M Ravi from Langer House.
Aziz who is working in a Pharmacy at a hospital, in Langer House, observed many people visit the pharmacy used to ask for Remdesivir (Covifor) injection for the treatment of Covid-19 positive patients.
Given the pandemic situation, he hatched a plan to procure and sell the Anti-viral drugs used for treating Covid-19 positive patients, on a high price to needy customers.
He came in contact with Raju, Staff Nurse of the Hospital in Langer House, who offered to supply 'Remdesivir' injection for Rs.10,000 to him, despite the injection, originally costs only Rs.5,400.
Raju arranged the supply from his friend Sunil, Staff Nurse at another private hospital in LB Nagar for Rs.6,500. Aziz and his associates purchased 11 Remdesivir Injections and Cipremi injection from Raju and his colleague staff nurse, Ravi and sold it to other associates and medical shops at a higher price.
All the offenders were nabbed by the cops after the officials raided their den in Asif Nagar and booked them.
