HUBBALLI : Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is now contemplating creating an exclusive task force for the containment of Covid-19 cases.
Day by day, positive cases in Dharwad district are increasing drastically. To curtail its spread, HDMC is planning to constitute special ward taskforces for micro level work.
Each task force will consist of four government staff including a staff from HDMC's health department, police, residents of the area, members of women's organisations and others. HDMC commissioner Suresh Itnal said the taskforce will be constituted at all wards. They will be looking after raising awareness and monitoring all happenings in the wards. "If the taskforce works effectively, it will help curtail the spread of Covid-19," he said.
The taskforces will monitor and educate people on social distancing, wearing masks, sanitising among other things. The team will assist on imposing fines on those not wearing masks and prevent people from roaming around unnecessarily during the lockdown," Itnal added.
Hubballi rural tahsildar Prakash Nashi said 26 panchayat level taskforce committees have been constituted to arrest the spread of covid-19. Each committee has a panchayat development officer, village accountants, anganwadi staff, ASHA workers and health staff along with local citizens.
"We are not leaving any stone unturned including educating people on maintaining hygiene and things to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Spraying, fogging, cleaning and other initiatives have been taken. There are 48 active cases and 20 containment zones in the taluk," he added.
