JAIPUR: An eight-member team has been constituted to investigate the case in which people were allegedly heard discussing attempts to topple the Ashok Gehlot government in the two audio clips which went viral. The team is headed by an SP rank officer.
Special Operations Group (SOG) officials also applied in a Jaipur court on Saturday to seek permission for taking voice samples of the individuals heard in the recordings.
The SOG registered two FIRs on Friday after a complaint by Congress chief whip Mahesh Joshi over perceived allegations to topple the ruling government in Rajasthan.
One of the two FIRs mentioned Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma, Gajendra Singh and Sanjay Jain. The FIRs were lodged after two audio clips went viral in which the trio could be heard discussing alleged horse-trading of MLAs.
According to one FIR, Sharma and Jain were heard talking about getting an adequate number of MLAs to topple the Ashok Gehlot government.
After this, Jain patched the call with Singh who spoke with Sharma about the Congress MLAs staying at the resort. As per the audio clip mentioned in the FIR, Singh and Sharma spoke about a 'list' in which the latter’s name is not there. According to the second FIR, two political leaders were heard talking about an exchange of money and one of the callers claimed that 'their people sitting in Delhi have already received the first instalment of the cash payment'. The same person claimed that he would be travelling from Agra. The two then talked about deciding the future action.
