Temples Protection Movement (TPM) convenor Chilkur RangarajanTIRUPATI: Temples Protection Movement (TPM) convenor Chilkur Rangarajan urged the President of India, Ramnath Kovind to protect the constitutional rights of Lord Sri Padmanabha Swamy ruler (citizen) deity.
In a letter addressed to the President of India on Saturday, TPM convenor noted that the entire nation was celebrating the victory of Lord Sri Padmanabha Swamy ruler citizen deity, the very embodiment of D Sharma in His temple in Supreme court through the landmark judgement delivered on 13th July.
''The judgement establishes the legality of article 26, reinforces protection of rights of Sri Padmanabha Swamy ruler citizen deity, that was explained in an earlier reference'', noted Chilkur Rangarajan.
TPM convenor appealed to the President of India to advise the counsel of union government to represent to the supreme court nine-judge bench hearing the questions of law arising out of the Sabarimala review petition to bring to the notice of the court certain particular provisions of the constitution which protects the rights of our ruler citizen deity and all Hindu deities.
Chilkur Rangarajan also appealed to advise the union government to restore back the 21 gun salute of the Indian army during important festivals of Sri Padmanabha Swamy ruler citizen deity which was discontinued under the mistaken impression that 26th amendment takes away this provision, while at the same time it is actually protected under article 25 & 26 of our constitution.
More importantly, the temples protection movement appealed to President of India to advise the union government to consider using its powers as per concurrent list to repeal the 1974 amendment of the Travancore Cochin Hindu religious institutions Act.
