All India Congress Committee secretary and former MLA Ch Vamshi Chand ReddyHYDERABAD: The Congress on Friday charged chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS government of totally failing to rein in the managements of the corporate and private educational institutions who are exerting pressure on the parents to pay huge sums of fee.
All India Congress Committee secretary and former MLA Ch Vamshi Chand Reddy termed the review meeting on education conducted by CM KCR on Thursday as an eye wash. Why was G.O No 45 that directs all the educational institutions to pay full salaries, not discussed in the review meeting or at least direction issued to the education department to act tough against the private school and college managements?, he asked.
“It was insensitive on the part of CM KCR not to have issued any orders to the officials to act tough against the private managements for non-payment of salaries to the teachers and lecturers of schools and colleges for 4 consecutive months in many cases,” Vamshi said.
Stating that the CM spoke to just two of the teachers, the AICC secretary said it would have been better had the chief minister interacted with teachers who have not received their salaries. “Many teachers started to work as daily wage labourers while others sold vegetables to earn livelihood during lockdown period,” Vamshi said.
The Congress leader charged the TRS government of ruining the education system and remaining unresponsive to pleas by the teachers of corporate and private educational institutions who were not paid salaries by their respective managements. “Was CM KCR’s review aimed at only taking a decision to conduct final year exams and follow UGC guidelines,” he asked?
Vamshi demanded that CM KCR also gave clarity on the budget released to clear pending tuition fee, mess charges, fee reimbursement dues. How many vacancies have been filled up in government schools, junior, degree and PG colleges, he asked?
“The lack of interest on part of the state government to fill up the posts of vice-chancellors of various universities, lecturers and professors is ruining the education sector as a whole in the state, Vamshi alleged.
