Umang DarjiAHMEDABAD: There has been a surprising twist in the case for the murder of 21-year-old Umang Darji, who was stabbed to death on July 11on Guruji Bridge in Isanpur by three youths, allegedly because one of the two girls with them at the time had demanded a mobile phone. Police cracked the case within 24 hours and arrested the three youths and two girls were dealt with under the law for juveniles.
ACP J division Rajpalsinh Rana said during her medical check-up, one of the girls was found to be four months pregnant. Police sources said that during her interrogation she said she was involved with one Jaymin Panchal of Isanpur. “We have registered an offence for rape and under the POCSO Act against Panchal on Wednesday and have detained him. He has been sent for Covid-19 test before we officially arrest him,” added Rana. According to the complaint lodged by the girl, she met Jaymin about an year ago. He lured her into a physical relationship with the promise of marriage.
