Assam: Total lockdown extended in Jorhat

JORHAT: Jorhat district administration imposed an indefinite total lockdown in both urban and suburban areas of the district from Thursday. This order has come after the expiry of seven days of total lockdown which began on July 9.
Jorhat district magistrate had ordered a total lockdown in the town and weekend lockdown in all municipality and sub-urban areas from July 9 due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the district. This order had expired on Wednesday and the total number of Covid-positive patients have gone up to 600 on Thursday. On July 9, the number was 289.
District magistrate Roshni Aparanji Korati, who is also the chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, said, “The Lockdown has been extended and some additional areas will also follow the lockdown guidelines from Thursday.” The additional areas as mentioned in the order were areas from Jorhat town to Chinnamara Tiniali, Lichubari Chariali, Rowriah Chariali, Ajanta, Malow Ali, Sarbaibandha, Borigaon, and Kenduguri bypass, Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) gate, JEC campus, Garmur, from Sonari Gaon Road 1 to Jail Tiniali, Sadar Tiniali via Lichubari to Jail Tiniali including Assam Agricultural University campus.
