Registration mandatory for all road travellers coming to Jammu

JAMMU: Jammu district magistrate Sushma Chauhan on Friday ordered strict adherence to compulsory registration for Covid-19 sampling by road travellers on arrival at the district borders and warned that violators will face punitive action, including registration of an FIR.
The DM, who is also chairperson of the district disaster management authority, Jammu, has ordered that all travellers arriving by road have to get registered at Ban Toll Plaza and Purmandal Morh checkpoints and make themselves available at the appointed time and location for sampling and testing, without interacting with any other person.
“It has been reported that many road travellers arriving from outside Jammu division are skipping registration and mandatory sampling, testing and administrative quarantine process. Any violation of the above directions shall result in registration of an FIR, initiation of punitive action under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005, that provides for imprisonment up to one year or fine, or both,” the order said.
“The Covid-19 sampling and testing of all travelers arriving at the UT has been made compulsory, followed by administrative quarantine (except exempted categories) till the test results turn negative,” according to the order.
All air and train passengers are being sampled immediately on their arrival at Jammu airport and Jammu Tawi railway station, respectively. The road travelers are sampled at Government Medical College, Jammu; Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar; and through mobile sampling van, if they have travelled from any location outside the Jammu province.
