FCA and Groupe PSA merger to be known as Stellantis

As FCA and Groupe PSA move towards the completion of their 50:50 merger, the companies have named the new identity Stellantis. To be used at the Corporate level as well as at the Group level, Stellantis will house a number of brands, however the brand logos and identities will continue to remain.

 

What does Stellantis mean?

According to the official statement shared with us, here is what the company had to say, “Stellantis is rooted in the Latin verb “stello” meaning “to brighten with stars”. It draws inspiration from this new and ambitious alignment of storied automotive brands and strong company cultures that in coming together are creating one of the new leaders in the next era of mobility while at the same time preserving all the exceptional value and the values of its constituent parts. Stellantis will combine the scale of a truly global business with an exceptional breadth and depth of talent, knowhow and resource capable of providing the sustainable mobility solutions for the coming decades. The name’s Latin origins pay tribute to the rich history of its founding companies while the evocation of astronomy captures the true spirit of optimism, energy and renewal driving this industry-changing merger.”

 

The brands under Stellantis

Possibly one of the biggest mergers in recent times, Stellantis will be the corporate identity for numerous FCA and Groupe PSA brands. From the FCA stable Stellantis will have Fiat, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat Professional, Lancia, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Maserati. From Groupe PSA, Stellantis will include Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall.
