The Kashimira police have registered a case of accidental death based on preliminary reports and parents’ statements. Further probe is on.
The girl was rushed to the hospital with the dupatta around her neck. She was declared dead on arrival. The police were informed.
The parents told the police that the girl was playing with her younger sibling at their home on Thursday night.
She had climbed onto an empty LPG gas cylinder to reach the ceiling. Her dupatta allegedly got entangled in a rod. As she tried to pull out her dupatta, the cylinder gave way and she was hanging from the rod. Her sister raised an alarm, alerting her mother. Her father, a security guard, was at work.
The mother’s screams alerted the neighbours who helped bring down the girl from the rod. She was taken to the hospital only to be declared dead.
Police said the body has been sent for autopsy to know the exact cause of death.
