West Bengal HS 12th Result 2020 LIVE Updates: The West Bengal Board Of Secondary Education (WBBSE) is expected to be by 3.30 pm on July 17 (today), state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said. Students can check their results via the board's official websites: wbresults.nic.in and wbchse.nic.in. SMS facility will be open from 4 pm onwards. At least 8 lakh students took the WBBSE 12th exam this year. This year, similar to many other boards there will be no merit list announced. Students require a minimum of 30 percent overall in all the compulsory subjects to pass the Class 12 board. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) conducted the Class 12 examinations in March this year, but some exams were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and consequent lockdown. The exams were then rescheduled for July, but later cancelled as well.
The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSEE) was established through the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, Act 1975. The Council has been entrusted the task of regulating the school education system at the 10+2 level. Admissions for undergraduate courses in West Bengal in 2020 will be conducted online. Students will not be called for counselling or verification of documents due to the COVID-19 pandemic, state Higher Education department said. For assessment, since multiple papers were cancelled, the WBCHSE said it will follow the CBSE formula and calculate a student’s best mark out of all the exams that they have written and consider it for the exams they could not attempt.
In 2019, pass percentage for the Class 12th Board in West Bengal was 86.92 percent - higher than the 83.75 percent recorded in 2018. In terms of gender, 87.44 percent male candidates pass the exam in 2019, compared to 85.30 percent of girls. Among the state districts, Kolkata, Kalimpong, East Mindapore and West Mindapore each recorded pass percentage of 90 percent or above. As much as 7,818 candidates overall secured 90 percent and above, compared to 5,241 students in 2018.
