Maharashtra: Covid-19 positive woman raped at quarantine facility in Panvel

Police have not arrested the accused yet as his Covid-19 results are awaited.

In a shocking incident from Maharashtra, a 40-year-old woman was allegedly raped at a quarantine facility in Navi Mumbai's Panvel.

Police said the woman is admitted at the Covid-19 quarantine facility India Bulls in Panvel.

According to officials, the accused has been identified as 25-year-old Shubam Khatu.

On the evening, the accused Shubam Khatu went inside the room of woman. Khatu told woman that he is doctor. He asked the woman whether she has any problems or symptoms. The woman said she has body pain. The accused now checked Covid-19 reports of the woman and told her that she needs massage.

The accused is the name of massage removed cloths of the woman and started massaging. Woman initially did not reacted as accused told her that he is doctor. However the accused later touched the woman inappropriately. The accused later raped the woman and left.

The woman complaint about the incident today early morning and police filed FIR immediately.

Police have not arrested the accused yet as his Covid-19 results are awaited. A case has been registered against him at Panvel Taluka police station.

A police officer said, "The accused is at the quarantine facility. Once his report is out and if he is negative for Covid-19 we will arrest him. Other investigations in the matter is on. Case is registered under section 376 and 354 of IPC."
