AP second among states in CBSE X results

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh stood in the second place among the states in terms of pass percentage in the CBSE class X results released on Wednesday. While Tamil Nadu topped among the states with 99.61 pass percent, Andhra Pradesh achieved 99.44% to secure the second spot in the country. If the pass percent of the union territories was also taken into consideration, the Telugu-speaking state clinched the third place. The neighbouring Telangana got 99.21% to take the fourth place among the states.
Of the 22,095 students of the state who appeared the examinations, as many as 21,936 students of Andhra Pradesh cleared them. As usual, girls (99.71 pass percent) outshone the boys (99.24) in the results. When it comes to the schools of various managements, Kendriya Vidyalas of Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest pass percent of 99.95, closely followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas of 99.84%. The independent CBSE schools registered 99.37% and the government schools 98.77%.
According to the data aggregated form the educational institutions, several students excelled on the individual scores front. Sarvagna Grandhi of Little Angels Schools, Visakhapatnam scored 491 out of 500, followed by Dasari Sai Harsh (490) of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan. The others students who performed will include K Naga Bhavani (489), P Ramya (489), Vikranth Vavilapalli (485), Sai Gayatri Adhikari (484) and Vyahruth Prakya (484). Sri Prakash Director Ch Vasu Prakash and Little Angels founder and chairman M Venumohan congratulated the students for their excellent performance.
Due to the wide spread of Covid-19 pandemic, the exams scheduled from March 19 to 31 had to be postponed. After assessing the situation, it was decided that the CBSE will no longer be able to conduct the examinations, including those to be conducted in North-Eastern Delhi. Consequently, the Supreme Court of India approved the assessment scheme prepared by the CBSE to compute the results.
For the students, who appeared all their examinations, the results were declared based on their performance in the examinations. For those students, who appeared the exams in more than three subjects, the average of the marks obtained in best three performing subjects was awarded in the remaining subjects whose examinations have not been conducted. For those students, who have appeared in the examinations in only three subjects, the average of the marks obtained in the best two performing subjects was awarded in the remaining subjects whose examinations have not been conducted.
