Haryana: With 45 new Covid cases, Ambala tally crosses 700; no break in chain from cloth market areas

AMBALA: With 45 people testing positive for Covid-19 in Ambala district of Haryana on Thursday, the district’s total tally reached 736 on Thursday, said civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
“With the recovery rate of 59.64%, the total tally of Covid-19 positive cases reached 736 in Ambala on Thursday, out of which, 439 patients got discharged, six died and 291 are active cases”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“Out of the 45 new cases, 22 are from Ambala City areas, 12 from Ambala Cantonment, six from Chourmastpur areas, three from Boh village, one each from Mullana and Naraingarh”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“As the chain of positive cases from old cloth market in Ambala city area is yet to be broken and cases are regularly coming to light from there, therefore, it has been decided to take RT-PCR samples again in cloth market”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“Moreover, in the future, antigen testing will be conducted in domestic containment zones of the district”, said Dr Kuldeep.
To query, Dr Kuldeep said, “So far, a total of 24,636 samples have been sent for Covid-19 testing in Ambala district, out of which, results of about 1,100 are awaited. In Ambala, we have collected 20,106 samples per 10 lakh population up to Thursday”, said Dr Kuldeep.
As per record, Ambala district positive cases jumped from 426 on July 9 to 736 on July 16, which is a surge of 310 cases within a week.
As per data of the health department, Ambala district crossed 100 positive cases on June 6; 200 on June 16; 300 on June 25; 400 on July 9; 500 on July 12; 600 on July 13 and 700 on July 16.
Samples of Haryana home minister, family, and his staff found negative
“The samples of Haryana home minister Anil Vij, his family, and staffs have been found negative and the tests were conducted under the precautionary measures”, said Dr Kuldeep.
Warning issued to media for spread false information
“It came to light that some vernacular social media channels have been spreading false information regarding Covid-19 cases in Ambala, therefore, a warning has been issued to print, social and electronic media to be cautious before publishing any sensitive information on the internet or in the public domain”, said Dr Kuldeep.
