GREATER NOIDA: A 30-year-old lab technician working at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Dankaur, who is currently on Covid duty, was allegedly abused and beaten up by two persons, including a staffer of the birth/death certificate department, on Tuesday.
Police said when the victim, Neeraj Kumar, was on duty in the laboratory one Om Gujjar had come to get his test done for Covid-19 for which Neeraj asked him to wait.
“However, he got furious and started abusing me. Then Kushal, who works in the birth/death certificate issuance department, entered the lab and asked me to do a tuberculosis test immediately and I asked him to wait too. I later entered an adjacent room where a lab technician, a CGS staffer and another staffer of the laparoscopy department were present. Kushal called Om inside and the duo started abusing me. Om first hit me. Kushal too thrashed me later and used casteist remarks saying he won’t let me stay here,” said Neeraj.
He also complained of pain in his neck and ear after the alleged thrashing.
“While Kushal belongs to Deota village in Dankaur, Om belongs to Kanarsi village,” Neeraj added.
However, Dankaur police claims that Om had assaulted both Neeraj and Kushal and thus have lodged an FIR only against Om under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult and provocation to any person to break the public peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
“The accused hasn’t been arrested yet as he could not be traced. We are on it,” said sub-inspector of police Abhilash Kumar.
