Man duped of 23 lakh by social media 'friend'

A 52-year-old official of a private company was duped of Rs 22.78 lakh by a person he befriended on social media.
The latter lured him into investing in the business of exporting medicinal seeds meant for breast cancer cure to a top US pharmaceutical company.
The police said that the victim, a senior official in one of the top telecom companies, befriended a woman from California, who identified herself as Loura Doura and soon started chatting with her on WhatsApp. She lured him into investing the money after connecting him to an agent.
