BJP stages protest in Chennai demanding action against Karuppar Koottam YouTube channel

CHENNAI: BJP's senior party members staged a protest at Koyambedu in Chennai on Thursday demanding legal action against a YouTube channel, Karuppar Koottam, for allegedly hurting the sentiment of Hindus. This protest was led by the party's state unit president L Murugan.
Stating that the YouTube channel had disparaged Lord Murugan, the party president demanded invocation of the National Security Act against the said YouTubers. He stated that they should be booked for sedition. A state-wide protest was launched against the channel on Thursday.
“They should be booked under NSA,” Murugan told reporters after taking part in the protest.
Recently, the YouTube channel uploaded a video on 'Kandha Shasti Kavacham', a religious song praising the Hindu god. The members of BJP and a few other Hindu outfits alleged that the programme was aimed at denigrating the deity. The party's functionaries lodged a complaint with the state police, demanding immediate legal action.
The police have arrested a person associated with the channel.
