Police said that the accused, identified as Naresh Yadav, was in a relationship with the woman for last seven years. The woman officer had allegedly become friendly with another man living in the neighbourhood to which Yadav objected and even threatened her. Yadav is married and has two children who live in Rewari.
According to police, the 23-year old woman constable was posted with the Tihar Jail and was found murdered at her rented house in Palam Vihar on Wednesday afternoon. The woman had rented the apartment a week back and was staying alone. A senior police official revealed that Yadav objected to her friendship with a man in the neighbourhood. “The accused and the deceased were in a relationship and their families were aware about it as well. Yadav was married somewhere else but despite that they remained in touch. The accused had seen her conversations with a man in the area and was angry as he did not want her to speak to another person,” said the officer.
