Students celebrate class X CBSE board result on WednesdayLUCKNOW: Science played a bit of a spoilsport while numbers rained in languages, said CBSE class 10 high scorers. Students said tough marking in science hindered full marks while in English and Hindi, they scored more than expected.
Scoring 98.4%, Abhishek Yadav of Rani Laxmi Bai School said, “I was expecting 98 in science, but was awarded 96. The marking has been tough but I am satisfied as I scored 99 in Hindi and 98 in English.”
The son of a police constable, Abhishek aspires to become an IAS officer and said regular revision and in-depth studies were his success mantra. Upset with marks in science, 98.2% scorer Ayush Singh from the same school said, “I had calculated I was losing one mark in chemistry, but getting full in biology and physics. There has been strict marking in science else I would have scored 99%.”
Ayush got 100 in English and 98 in Hindi.
Lucknow Public School student Sara Singh bagged 98.4% with 100 in English and 99 in Hindi. She said, “I missed perfect 100 in science by three marks. I was expecting more.”
Ayeshyani Mishra of GD Goenka Public School who scored 97.4%, was also expecting more. “I scored 94 in science which was below expectation. I wish to become a doctor like my parents,” she said.
Almost all high scorers said science was at the bottom of their scorecard. A handful like Divya Tripathi of Rani Laxmi Bai School, however, hit a century in science.
“For me, mathematics played a villain with 96, my lowest. I got more than expected in languages with 99 in English and 98 in Hindi,” said Divya, who has 98% overall.
A student of Army Public School, Nehru Road, Sara Mann scored 98.8%.
“There is no replacement for hard work to achieve anything. I have dreamt of studying in IIT so my next goal is that,” said Sara whose father Col Tejpal Singh is an engineer in the Indian Army while mother Lt Col Shaman Gill is a neurologist in Command Hospital. Adeeb Ahmad of Lucknow Public Collegiate with 98%, Maitree Singh of Loyola International School with 97.4 % and Karishka Singh of Amity International School with 97.6% shared that marks in science were lower than expected.
