Altogether 34 online modules have been created: DHE

Stating that out of the 15,000-odd students who cleared the HSSC examination this year, 10,735 students have applied for admissions in various colleges around the state, the directorate of higher education (DHE) informed that altogether 34 online modules have been created by it, including the module for admissions, which would allow introduction of online higher education, if need be.

The online admissions in various general education colleges in the state affiliated to Goa University started from July 15.

The DHE administers these educational institutions, which conduct courses such as Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Computer Application, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Education, law, music, home science, agriculture and so on.    

Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’, the director of higher education, Prasad Lolyenkar said that now only around 1,000 students may have remained behind and yet to apply for admissions, considering that the remaining students will go to the professional colleges.

The director of higher education further said that the 34 online modules created by the technical cell of the DHE, will take the higher education in the state to the digital level.

Mahadev Gawas, in-charge of creating these online modules informed that the 34 module are dedicated to various facilities such as course management comprising of syllabus related e-content, attendance of students, internal examinations, attendance, fees-related accounts
and so on.

“Henceforth, there will be no paperwork in the higher education colleges,” he added, pointing out that the notes as well as the assignments can be uploaded due to this arrangement, as also the evaluation of the students carried
out online.

Maintaining that the project of the DHE concerning the digitalisation of higher education in aided as well as government colleges is complete, Gawas said that now onwards, these colleges can conduct online education whenever the need arises.
