GURUGRAM: The district administration issued a fresh list of large outbreak regions (LORs) on Wednesday. The number of LORs has increased from eight to nine after a recommendation by the health department. Restrictions in LORs will remain in effect till July 28.
A large outbreak is deemed to have occurred when there are 15 or more Covid-19 cases. TOI had reported on Wednesday that the health department has recommended the names of the new LORs, which have now been approved by the district administration. Unlike the earlier list, which categorised clusters according to the wards they were located in, the new list has categorised areas according to the primary health centres (PHCs) under which they fall.
The LORs now include East Rajiv Nagar, Shivaji Nagar and Shanti Nagar, which fall under Om Nagar PHC; Ravinder Nath ki jhuggi and Shamshan Ghat ji jhuggi under Nathupur PHC; Dayanand Colony and Laxman Vihar Phase 2 under the Laxman Vihar PHC; Palam Vihar H-Block under Chauma PHC; Madanpuri and Baldev Nagar under Firoz Gandhi colony PHC; Nai Basti and Arjun Nagar under Patel Nagar PHC; Harijan Basti and Lal Building Chowk under Manesar PHC and Thakurwada, Gujjar Ghati, Shiv Kund Area, Lohiyawada, Mangal Colony, Kayasthwada, Pathanwada, Tilpat Colony, Kohliwada, New Anaj Mandi and Baniyawada under Sohna PHC.
“These areas are reporting more Covid cases compared to others. Now, we have also increased the number of rapid antigen testing camps from 14 to 21 to cover these areas. We want to test the maximum people and control the spread of infection. We have also received 10,000 more kits for rapid antigen testing. We have made a new schedule to be followed in the 21 camps from July 15 to July 28,” said a health department official. These camps will be held in the nine LORs and Mullahera.
“Residents can avail the facility free of cost at these camps. Testing is important and residents should go to the nearest antigen testing camp to get tested,” deputy commissioner Amit Khatri said. The health department conducted 1,151 rapid antigen tests on Wednesday, of which 34 were found to be positive.
