HYDERABAD: As many as 14 people tested positive for Covid-19 in
Nizamabad district on Thursday. The district also reported to Covid-related deaths.
With the number of cases increasing in the district, the officials have asked the public to take precautions.
Following the increase in the number of cases in Dharpalli mandal, shop owners voluntarily observed a shut down as a local resident tested positive for the infection. A village revenue officer has also tested positive in Banswada of
Kamareddy district. The district health authorities began conducting tests at some primary health centres from Thursday.
The virus also claimed the life of a pregnant woman who had visited a private hospital for regular check up in Kamareddy. As she had symptoms of Covid-19, her swab samples were sent for tests to the Government Hospital in Nizamabad. While she awaited the result, the woman from Gopalpet village in Nagireddypet was at her parents house in Kamareddy in home quarantine. When her health condition worsened, she was asked to be taken to Gandhi Hospital in
Secunderabad. She died on the way at Ramayampet on Tuesday night. Another 24-year-old man from Mallur village of Nizamsagar mandal also died at Gandhi Hospital.
With deaths being reported from all age groups, the district administration has urged the public to venture out of their houses only if it was absolutely necessary. Health officials have strongly advised the public against taking any medication on their own but to go to the hospital for a check-up if they feel unwell or have symptoms of Covid-19.
In Jukkal mandal, shopkeepers have decided to voluntarily shut down shops till the end of this month to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Essentials, however, can be bought from 8am to 2pm. The local gram panchayat authorities have asked shopkeepers to adhere to the norms. A cloth shop owner, who kept his shop open, was told to pay a fine of Rs 2,500.
