UT holds review meeting with CBSE for PISA preparedness

CHANDIGARH: A virtual online review meeting for PISA-2022 was held by UT education department with Manoj Ahuja, Chairperson –CBSE, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academics) and Dr Biswajit Saha, Director (Training and Skill Education) on Thursday.
A brief presentation was made by Director (Academics), CBSE regarding the status of PISA preparedness of UT Chandigarh. He shared the details of board results, assessment of CCT tests and a sample survey of schools of Chandigarh. He further informed that Teacher Energized Textbooks (TET) for teachers and PISA primer for parents will be shortly shared with UT of Chandigarh.
Due to the global pandemic, PISA examination has been pushed further and tentative dates for Field and Main Trials of PISA were also discussed. Chairperson-CBSE raised the issue of low participation of students of Govt. Schools in online assessment. He further expressed concern about availability of smart-phones and internet connection with students belonging to EWS families. He also requested the administration to plan regular online training for the teachers so that they could prepare the students for taking PISA examination.
Principal Secretary Education assured Chairperson CBSE that department will make all efforts to ensure maximum participation of students of Government Schools in online assessment of CCT. It was also decided that monthly meetings will be held to review the preparedness for PISA.
Manoj kumar Parida UT Adviser requested Chairperson CBSE to supply the printed booklets (PISA primer) for parents so that these can be delivered at their residences. He directed the Director, SCERT to explore all the possibilities / ways to reach to all the students during these difficult times. He further assured the CBSE that the Chandigarh Administration will undertake all possible endeavours to ensure best results from UT of Chandigarh so that the overall ranking of the nation improves significantly in the PISA 2022.
