India recorded its highest single-day peaks in Covid-19 deaths as well fresh cases on Wednesday even as the number of recovered patients breached the six-lakh mark. With a phenomenal surge in daily cases in the last fortnight, the country’s caseload as well as addition to active cases in the 15 days of July is close to the corresponding figures for the entire month of June. Breaching the 32,000-mark for the first time, 32,498 fresh cases on Wednesday took the country’s caseload to 9,68,835. India also recorded its highest-daily casualties of 615 — discounting the 2003 backdated deaths that were reported on June 16 — taking the cumulative toll closer to the 25,000-mark at 24,860.
