CHANDIGARH: Five students — all from Bhavan Vidyalaya School in Panchkula — secured 99% to bag the first position in the Class X exam, the results of which the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Wednesday.
The top position was shared by Ashmita Sen Gupta, Bhuvi Kansal, Garima, Parv Aggarwal and Rasleen Kaur. All of them said consistent hard work and staying away from social media helped them score well.
Ashmita said, “Believe in yourself as there is a lot of pressure in board examinations. Whatever is your potential, focus on that and work hard.” Garima said, “Consistent hard work is the only solution to your goals. Never get demotivated from your poor results.”
Parv reiterated the importance of staying away from social media. He said, “Everybody must give their best in study. And all must remain away from all social media apps.”
Love what you study is what Rasleen said helped her score. She said, “Love your studies, then it will become easier for you. There is no success mantra behind this.” Bhuvi could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
The second position was grabbed by Vrinda Gupta of Bhavan Vidyalaya School, by scoring 98.8% marks. Vrinda wants to become a chartered accountant. She said that listening to teachers and focusing on what they tell them was the key to her success. She wants to take up commerce and make a name in the field of economics.
The third position witnessed a tie between multiple students who scored 98.6% marks. These include Gurjot Singh of KBDAV School in Sector 7. He said that to succeed one has to focus on one thing at one given time. He said it is important to fix time for studies and do other things at other time. He too did not watch television or used mobile phone.
Ashima Garg of Vivek High School was another third-position holder, with 98.6% marks. Ashima said, “I used to study regularly for three to four hours daily. I take keen interest in sports like basketball and fencing. I had bagged a silver medal in the National Fencing Championship organised by Telangana Fencing Association in Hyderabad from January 13-15.”
Two students from Bhavan Vidyalaya Panchkula – Animesh Madaan and Mansi — too shared the third position, with 98.6%.
