Beerenberg Australian Strawberry Jam has been named the country's best jam by expert taste testers
The nation's most highly-rated strawberry jams have been revealed - and an Australian-made jam has been crowned the best of them all.
Out of 16 commercially-distributed jams surveyed by consumer advocacy group Choice, Beerenberg Australian Strawberry Jam was ranked at the top of the list with a score of 75 per cent.
The Adelaide Hills-based jam maker's $1.57 offering was praised by expert taste testers for its 'glossy, natural colour' and acidic strawberry flavour.
Beerenberg describes their jam as being made from a 'traditional home style recipe' using ripened sweet strawberries.
Second in the list was the Aldi Grandessa Signature Strawberry Premium Jam with a score of 74 per cent - priced at 54c.
The jams were all available in major supermarket chains and bought between May and June 2020.

The own-brand product was the cheapest in the list priced at just 28c.
The study's taste testers said the jam's star quality was its 'nice strawberry' chunks and also praised its 'pleasant, subtle, sweet strawberry fragrance'.
Second in the list was the Aldi Grandessa Signature Strawberry Premium Jam - priced at 54c
Coming in fourth was the Bonne Maman Strawberry Conserve - easily recognised around the world for its chequered red lid.
'Lovely bright, vibrant colour. Beautiful clean, fresh strawberry flavour. Not a subtle jam. Love the big strawberry chunks in this one,' the testers said.
The score was comprised of 90 per cent taste and 10 per cent nutrition, Choice journalist Rachel Clemons said.
