14 more Patna HC staffers test corona positive, tally now 51

PATNA: Altogether 14 officials of Patna high court have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. With this the total number of cases at the HC premises have gone up to 51.
The chain of infection was detected with a deputy superintendent of police, who is in-charge of the security of the entire complex, testing positive on June 10.
High court registrar general Nawneet Kumar Pandey confirmed to TOI over phone that 51 positive cases of Covid-19 have surfaced till Wednesday.
“These include 20 court staff members and 31 security personnel,” he said.
The registrar general, whose driver is also among those tested positive, further said that two family members of an electrician living in the outhouse of the official residence of an HC judge have tested positive and they have been isolated.
The registrar general and other senior office bearers of the high court administration also underwent tests for Covid-19 and they were found to be negative.
Till Tuesday, only six staff members of the high court had tested Covid-19 positive. Late on Tuesday night, report of 13 more security personnel turned out to be Covid-19 positive.
There are more than 200 security personnel, including those from Patna district police, Bihar Military Police (BMP) and Special Auxiliary Police, deployed in the security of the Patna high court.
Several of them are yet to be tested along with other high court staffers as a testing camp set up by the district administration on Tuesday got postponed. Samples of these security personnel and staffers would be collected once the camp is made functional again.
Some sections are working less than the skeletal strength required due to their unavoidable nature of work while rest are working from home and hearings of urgent matters are being taken up virtually.
