Mumbai-Pune Expressway: Tanker turns turtle at Kiwale; two injured

Pune: A major accident took place on Pune-Mumbai Expressway in which a driver riding a tanker heading from Mumbai lost control on his wheel and got turtled on Wednesday morning injuring two people.

According to the Expressway control room, the tanker was travelling from Mumbai to Sangli. Both the driver and the cleaner of the tanker were seriously injured in the accident. The cleaner was rushed to a private hospital in Somatane for treatment and the driver has escaped with minor injuries.

The police have identified the injured as Kalimuddin Kamaruddin Khan (35) a resident of Wadala in Mumbai and Rahul (18), details are awaited due to his critical condition.

According to police officials, the driver of the tanker bearing number MH 01 CV 9742 left Mumbai around 10 pm on Tuesday. He had rested at a petrol pump on the expressway at night and left for Sangli around 8 in the morning on expressway. The tanker overturned when the tanker lost control of the tanker in an attempt to avoid the red safety angle a small reflector pole on the sharp turn at the flyover after approaching Kiwle flyover at the speed of 90 kmph due to which he lost control on his wheel and got turtled."

"The Dehu Road Traffic Police Inspector Satish Pawar, Highway Traffic Police personnel, Highway Delta Force, IRB squad and angel personnel rushed to the spot. The team first rescued duo and rushed them to hospital. Meanwhile, the IRB team had asked the traffic to stop as the tanker that got turtled has fuel and it got leaked on road."
