Pune Lockdown: Section 144 imposed against the 10 day shut down in the city; strict lockdown to continue up to July 18

The lockdown will be seen in two phases, and authorities have asked the citizens to follow strict measures for the first five days (July 13 to 18). However, certain relaxations will be permitted to people after July 18. 

Pune: After the 10-day lockdown due to the rising COVID-19 cases was announced in Pune city, Section 144 was also imposed for the shutdown which will continue till July 23.

The lockdown will be seen in two phases, and authorities have asked the citizens to follow strict measures for the first five days (July 13 to 18). However, certain relaxations will be permitted to people after July 18.  

All grocery stores and retail, as well as wholesale shops, are to remain closed for the first five days. From July 19 to 23, shops with essential items will remain open only between 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Apart from these, Zomato, Swiggy and other food delivery apps are to remain closed till July 23.

Eggs and meat shops, too, will be remaining closed till July 18. From July 18 onwards, they will be allowed to function from 08:00 to 12:00 only.

The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra continues to rise, and the state has crossed 2.5 lakh (2,54,427) reported cases since the outbreak began in March. The active cases have crossed the 1 lakh mark and touched 103,516, and the death toll has reached 10,289.

COVID-19 cases in Pune continue to experience a sharp increase with 39,125 cases. Increasing the toll from 1,060 to 1,097 on Saturday. In Pune Division areas (including Pune, Solapur as well as Satara districts), the death toll has crossed the 1,500-mark and is now at 1,509. The number of cases in these areas is 44,812.
