Delhi Police has filed two chargesheets on the violence in Chand Bagh area during the Delhi riots and have claimed that suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain, former JNU student Umar Khalid and a few others hatched a conspiracy to conduct riots during US President Donald Trump’s visit in February 2020.

In these chargesheets, the police have claimed that the suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain, former JNU student Umar Khalid and United Against Hate founder Khalid Saifi set up a meeting before Donald Trump's visit to India. A conspiracy was hatched in the meeting.

Delhi Police has said that in this meeting, Umar Khalid assured the group not to worry about funds as the PFI organization was ready to provide funds and facilities for the riots. These riots were planned during or before the visit of US President Donald Trump, mentions in the police chargesheet.

Both these chargesheets are related to the investigation into the incidents in Chand Bagh area. FIR 65/2020 lodged at Dayalpur police station is related to the investigation into the killing of Intelligence Bureau personnel Ankit Sharma while FIR 101/2020 lodged in Crime Branch of Delhi Police is related to the violence in Chand Bagh.

Tahir Hussain is an accused in both the cases.

The chargesheet significantly mentions that "it was decided in the meeting that there should be a big blast to discredit the country internationally during or before the visit of US President Donald Trump in the month of February. Plans were made to carry out the riots”.

The crime branch's chargesheet has also added additional information on alleged financial assistance to the riots, while the FIR 65/2020 (Dayalpur Police Station) has stated the motive of the conspiracy, especially the angle of Trump's visit.
