BATHINDA: A Dera Sacha Sauda follower has accused certain functionaries of the sect of trying to usurp power and grab the post of its head by forming two divergent groups. The follower, Veerpal Kaur, has named Honeypreet, the alleged adopted daughter of the Sirsa-based dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim, and the political wing of the sect of separately plotting for it.
She claimed Gurmeet became a victim of the plots as senior dera functionaries did not seriously plead the rape case against him before the court due to which he was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment. Veerpal has been a dera follower for long. A case under various charges, including attempt to murder, was registered against her along with some others at Bathinda in 2007 following clashes between the sect followers and members of Sikh organisations.
Veerpal said, “Now both the groups are baying for each other’s blood and want to get power.”
