The HRD ministry on Tuesday announced the guidelines for online classes by schools and recommended class duration and number of sessions in a day for students. Following concerns raised by parents about schools conducting online classes like regular schools, guidelines have been formulated by the ministry, stating that children's screen time increased after the COVID-19 epidemic Is, because a shift is mandatory for online studies in schools.

In the guideline titled "Progress", the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) recommended that the duration of online classes for pre-primary students should not exceed 30 minutes. For classes 1 to 8, the Ministry of Human Resource Development recommends two online sessions of 45–45 minutes, while for classes 9 to 12, four sessions of 30–45 minutes are recommended.


Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that "the school is closed due to COVID-19 epidemic and it has affected more than 240 million children of the country who are enrolled in schools. School closures can lead to loss of education." It is also important to protect children from the effects of the epidemic. The way teaching and learning has changed now, but now a mixer of schooling at home and schooling will be needed.

Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 16, when the center announced a nationwide classroom shutdown to prevent an outbreak of COVID-19. A nationwide lockout was announced on 24 March, which came into force the next day. While the government has relaxed large-scale restrictions, schools and colleges continue to remain closed.
