Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Health official tests positive for Covid-19, admitted to Coimbatore hospital

COIMBATORE: G Shanthi, joint director of health services in Tirupur, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday and was admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore.
Though officials in Tirupur refused to confirm it, officials in the private hospital confirmed her admission.
Sources said the 53-year-old joint director had not been reporting to work for three days because she had fever, prompting her to give her nasal swab for tests on Monday. However, her case was not included in Tuesday’s health bulletin.
