Guru Teg Bahadur HospitalNEW DELHI: Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in east Delhi — the state government’s second largest Covid facility — increased the number of ICU beds with ventilators facility to 100 on Tuesday.
A total of 24 new ICU beds with ventilators were added to the hospital’s existing infrastructure over the past three days — the hospital had 76 ICU beds with ventilators till Saturday. Lok Nayak Hospital, meanwhile, with 2,000 beds is the largest Covid-19 healthcare facility in the capital.
“The expansion of the critical care infrastructure is arming GTB Hospital to cater to more patients and save lives,” said an official. GTB has 1,500 beds, of which only 179 are currently occupied while 1,321 beds are lying vacant.
Meanwhile, of the 100 ICU beds at GTB, only 22 are occupied at the moment. The hospital also has 699 oxygen-supported beds, of which 127 are occupied with the rest currently vacant.
GTB Hospital plans to increase the number of ICU beds with ventilator facility to 500. An official said that the expansion is aimed at meeting Covid-19 requirements in the near future.
