Warren Whiteley has stepped down as president of the South African Rugby Players' Association (SARPA) executive committee, being replaced by Chris van Zyl.
The news was confirmed by MyPlayers on their social media feeds on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old Van Zyl will start his new role immediately.
Whiteley, who has 23 Test matches to his name but has been battling a career-threatening knee injury, had served in the position since December 2018.
"Once you-know-who permits as to have a drink again, we’re popping an expensive cork in Wazza’s honour. A giant among men!" MyPlayers said on Twitter.
True to presidential form, @Chris_van_Zyl has been elected President of the SARPA Executive Committee “with immediate effect”. Locking down with a lock during lockdown was the right thing to do. Congratulations, Comrade! Pickle for President! @Springboks @THESTORMERS pic.twitter.com/CPo5S05lue
