Coronavirus Covid19 vaccine Russia India USA Moderna Oxford tracker news update: The US will deliver a Coronavirus COVID19 vaccine in the “record-breaking time”, said American President Donald Trump. The US President has said that America will deliver a COVID19 vaccine in record-breaking time through “Operation Warp Speed”. President Trump’s announcement has come after Russia announced that it had successfully conducted human trials for coronavirus vaccine and it would be out by mid-August. In a ray of hope, AIIMS, Patna has started human trials for COVAXIN, jointly developed by Bharat Biotech, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and National Institute of Virology, Pune. ICMR has stated that Human clinical trials for the potential COVID19 vaccine COVAXIN have been initiated in the country with approximately 1,000 volunteers each participating in the exercise.

Research Institutes and pharma companies around the world have been endeavoring to develop a coronavirus vaccine. So far, there are over 155 potential candidates which are at the different stages of the development. Out of those, around 23 potential vaccines for Coronavirus are in the human trials. While, Russia is leading the race at this moment but the US, the UK, India, China, and Australia have been working on multiple potential candidates for COVID19 vaccine. Around the world, pharmaceutical companies have ramped up clinical trials in the past month.

Coronavirus vaccine In India

According to the latest reports, the clinical trial of COVAXIN, jointly developed by Bharat Biotech, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and National Institute of Virology, Pune, has begun at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna. Another potential candidate Zydus Cadila is still at Phase I.

Coronavirus vaccine USA

Moderna Inc said that it was planning to start the final stage human trial for its potential coronavirus vaccine candidate on or around July 27. Moderna has revealed that it would conduct the trial at 87 study locations. These locations are all in the US. Maryland-based Novavax has announced that the US government will be funding the vaccine project. Canada-based Medicago has launched Phase I trials for a potential COVID19 vaccine candidate.

Coronavirus vaccine Russia

Scientists in Russia have claimed that “World’s first coronavirus vaccine” will be launched in August. The Director of Gamalei National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Gintsburg has said that the “Civil circulation” of the vaccine will commence from August 12 to August 14. He has also said that the mass production by the private companies is likely to begin in September, as per a report by Moscow Times.

Russia has claimed that Moscow State Medical University has successfully completed the clinical trials for the world’s first coronavirus vaccine. Director of the Institute for Translation Medicine and Biotechnology Vadim Tarasov has revealed that the first batch of volunteers will be discharged on July 15 and the second group will be discharged on July 20. Clinical trials of coronavirus vaccine began at the Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology on June 18.

Coronavirus vaccine UK, Oxford, AstraZeneca

In the UK, two potential Coronavirus vaccine candidates have raised hopes. One is developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca is at Phase III. Another is being developed by Imperial College London and its has entered the Phase II stage.

Coronavirus Vaccine China

In China, there are four potential coronavirus vaccine candidates that are at different stages of development. Wuhan Institute and Sinopharm’s COVID19 vaccine candidate is at the Phase II stage. Sinovac and Instituto Butantan are developing one which is at the Phase III stage. CanSino Biological Inc. and Beijing Institue of Biotech’s potential coronavirus candidate has been approved for military use. Beijing Institute of Biological products and Sinopharm’s vaccine candidate is at the Phase II stage.

In Germany, BioNTech, Pfizer, and Fosun Pharma’s potential vaccine candidate has managed to reach the Phase II stage of development.

In Australia, Vaxine Pty Ltd and Medytox’s potential vaccine candidate is at Phase I stage.
