Positive Balli panch makes fuss to go to care centre

The panch member had been suffering from mild fever
QUEPEM: A panch member of the Balli panchayat, who had tested positive on Monday, created a hurdle for health department staff after he refused to be taken to a Covid care centre on Tuesday.
As per protocol, health department staff from the Balli health centre arrived at his residence, but he refused to go with them.
It was only after police were called that the man agreed to accompany the health department staffers to the care centre.
The panch member is from Balli Mutt. Since he had mild fever he had consulted a private doctor, who asked him to get tested for Covid. The Balli health centre had collected his swab sample on Sunday and he was declared positive on Monday evening.
Balli sarpanch Rajesh Fal Dessai told TOI that that officials from the health centre informed him about the problem created by the panch member, who was later shifted to the GTDC’s Colva Residency.
Meanwhile, one more Covid-19 case was reported from Balli on Tuesday after a worker from Global Ispat Pvt Ltd. at the Cuncolim industrial estate tested positive.
